It’s one thing having the drawn plans in place, but we wanted to check in real terms how easily coaches can manoeuvre, turn and park in the new Bluebird Car and Coach Park.
Enter South Lakes Travel. They came along on a sunny Wednesday on 5th Feb with 2 of their finest full-size coaches to test the turning and parking areas. And the outcome was a success – so we can proceed with putting the plans into reality.
A huge thank you to Fiona Ebbs and John Hutton at South Lakes Travel for all their help with the coach parking trial.
Over at the main building which will house the information centre, e-bike hire shop and public loos, the first roof pitch has been battened and felted.
The first slate on the main roof has now been laid. Thanks to our friends at Honister Slate Mine for the fine Lake District green slate.

Over at the brand new entrance on Yewdale Road, the surface has been laid and the entrance is starting to look very smart indeed.
Finally, work on the new bus shelter is well underway. The first stone pillar is up, hand crafted by Darren Woolcock Stonewalling, with the second a work in progress.
